Kinga Tittel has been sharing her passion for Budapest as a tour guide since 2008. But some of her most memorable discoveries began not with tourists, but with her own children. Exploring the city together, often aboard its trams and buses, their endless curiosity led to countless questions: Who was Margaret? How deep is the Danube? And why are there shoes along the riverbank?
These little adventures became the inspiration for Fabulous Budapest, a book that brings the city’s fascinating history, hidden treasures, and remarkable stories to life through the eyes of a child.
First published in Hungarian in 2016, the book quickly became a bestseller, followed by an English edition in 2018. What began as a mother’s desire to answer her children’s questions has grown into a much-loved invitation to discover Budapest.
Years have passed, children have grown, and the city continues to change. Yet the joy of discovery remains the same. With her passion for storytelling and her enduring curiosity, Kinga invites readers of all ages to look beyond the familiar and experience the magic of Budapest with fresh eyes.
